Letter to the editor: Youngwood construction
Personally witnessing and living through the seemingly endless reconstruction of Route 119 (Third and Fourth streets) in Youngwood, I have arrived at a couple conclusions:
1. There appears to be a lack of communication between PennDOT and the various contractors. Frequently, one will complete their underground work and restore the area to a passable condition, only to have another return to the same area, do their part, restore again, etc., etc. In fact, some contractors seem to have done work only to return and destroy it and redo.
2. Restrictions of traffic lanes and parking areas seem to be placed very far in advance with no actual work being done. It appears that neither PennDOT nor the contractors have any regard for the residents, businesses or the traveling public. There is little, if any, communication as to road closures.
I can understand PennDOT’s reasons for the reconstruction, but surely there must be a better, faster, easier and possibly less expensive route.
