Letter to the editor: Would one overall gun law work?
Given that we already have thousands of gun laws on the books that aren’t working, President Biden needs to pass a new national law that supersedes all other gun control laws. It should be short and definitive. Something like: “It is illegal for all convicted criminals, future criminals, the mentally ill and other ne’er-do-gooders to possess any firearms, forever.” No ifs, ands or buts. He also better include non-U.S. citizens so they can’t claim U.S. laws don’t apply to them. And if they are non-U.S. citizens entering our country from the outside, make them check their guns and bombs at the border.
Biden doesn’t need an act of Congress to enact this new gun law. He can make an executive action, just like all the ones he did in his first few days in office.
Being that we know that these folks will abide by the law (not!), we can then rest assured that law-abiding citizens will be safe.
