Letter to the editor: Wolf leaves service industry in dark

Tribune-Review

Gov. Tom Wolf is expected to veto House Bills 2506 and 2513, which are aimed at getting restaurants and liquor-licensed establishments open and appear to be bipartisan. Will Wolf once again leave the service industry in limbo?

A third bill, HB327, which is an attempt to give liquor-licensed establishments the right to sell mixed drinks to go, has been in the works for over three weeks and sits on Wolf’s desk, although he indicated Tuesday that he plans to sign it.

My questions are, where is the urgency? What is the thought process that leaves so many in the dark with no timeline nor understanding of truly when or how they’ll return to their livelihoods?

Although Pennsylvania has the second largest legislative body in the nation, it now seems to have no power to effect change or implement law. We as a citizenry and business community have come to a point where what’s in our best interest is no longer for us to decide. If it’s one thing we’re learning and at great cost is such power in the hands of one man has proven fatal in more ways than one.

There is more than one type of suffering and while no one corners the market, this governor owns that which he’s created and delegated to those who once believed themselves of a free society.
