Letter to the editor: Will Americans ever come together?

Tribune-Review

In my lifetime, I’ve only seen Americans come together two times as a country: when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and Sept. 11, 2001.

Americans are so sensitive anymore. America is the only country where we can have anything we want, and we are still not satisfied. We are fighting among ourselves, and our enemies are just waiting for the right time to move in.

Let’s start with our federal politicians. How can we have order on our streets when there’s no order in Congress, fighting all the time? We can’t even have an election without fighting about it for years. Protesting for everything. Let’s take away the power of our police; “defund them,” people say. Wow.

We’ve taken God out of our schools because it offends someone. Did they ever think it offends someone for not having God in our schools?

Athletes kneeling during the playing of the national anthem, or the white supremacist who killed all those innocent people in Buffalo: These are not people for America. They are dividing our country. Let’s not make them heroes.

Everyone says take away guns, but don’t take away the media and all those bang-bang shoot-’em up games and movies kids watch and play today. Do Americans really think if you have a law to take away guns that the criminals will turn theirs in?

Let’s all stop and look for a moment at what we are doing to our county. We need to get back to basics, because if we don’t, America won’t be around for long.
