Letter to the editor: Why don't we cancel the pilgrims, too?
Why stop at Washington and Lincoln: What about those pesky Pilgrims and Plymouth Rock?
We are all specks in time. We are all riding on the backs of those who came before, and I would say we owe them a huge debt. As I lay in my warm bed, I thought of what perils they endured to get here and to establish a place to live. No hardware stores, grocery stores, Urgent Cares, etc.
They did have one help: Squanto just happened to be here to act as interpreter to the locals for them. What a stroke of luck that was.
