Letter to the editor: When will Trump supporters stop believing?

Tribune-Review

It sickens me to see that, even after the terrorist attack on the Capitol and on democracy that I believe was incited by President Trump, people are foolish enough to still believe in him. Recent letter-writers have claimed the election was stolen, that it was Democrats dressed as Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol, that it’s all about the economy, who cares about his misdeeds and lies, and that Trump was the greatest president ever.

I think anyone who believes Trump didn’t ignite the Capitol riot is in denial or ignorant; those who still support him after the riot are naive. I believe many of his supporters see him as a modern-day Jim Jones, who would drink bleach-laced Kool-Aid if he told them to. They fail to see that it’s Trump who tore apart his own Republican Party, costing them the Georgia election and control of the Senate. He put his colleagues on both sides of the aisle in harm’s way, and betrayed his own vice president.

Trump’s border wall is nothing compared to the wall he built dividing this country. When will these people wise up and see that Trump is only about himself?

In a previous letter, I stated that the biggest threat to this country was Trump himself. I’m sad to say that he has proved my point. If any president deserved to be impeached not once but twice, it’s Donald Trump. May our country never see a president like Trump again, and may God bless President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and all of America.
