Letter to the editor: When everything is free, we're not free

Would you like your bills paid? Would you like someone else to provide your housing and food? That can happen — and soon! A new group wants to provide for your every need.

They will decide what your children are required to learn in school. They will decide where you work, where you live and how much you earn.

Slaves in the South were given free housing, clothing, food and health care, but they were not free. They had no rights.

This new group insists you give up your freedom. You will have no constitutional rights. But you will have free housing, food and health care, and you will not be free any more.

I believe that’s what you will get with President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Chuck Shumer, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Bernie Sanders and others. The new group! They are like socialists and communists, but they call themselves Democrats. Can you survive another Depression? Can you survive communism?

President Reagan was correct when he said, “If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on earth.”
