Letter to the editor: What Trump is all about

Tribune-Review

I can’t believe the number of Trump supporters who have no idea what this president is all about after 3½ years of what seems like more lies than all the U.S. presidents combined.

I look at what he does and not what he tells us, because in most cases, they are opposite. He promised he would never touch Social Security or Medicare, programs that provide retirement security to upwards of 60 million seniors, but his 2020 budget cuts these programs by $2.3 trillion, and his recent executive action defers payroll taxes that fund Social Security and Medicare.

On Joe Biden defunding police, Trump told another lie, as Biden proposes the use of some police funds for training and social support services. This compared to Trump saying he isn’t going to “bail out” mismanaged blue states, an action that directly results in defunding of police, fire departments, paramedics and many other services.

As for fracking, Biden said he has no intention of banning fracking. His plan is to ban new permits for fracking on public lands. The claim of a loss of 600,000 Pennsylvania jobs is another Trump exaggeration (lie?), as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows only 20,146 people employed in Pennsylvania’s natural gas and oil industry.

On Democrats rigging elections: Republicans are supporting a phony candidate for president, Kanye West, a Trump ally — in an attempt to pull Black votes from Biden?

Finally, not taking action against Russia for placing bounties on U.S. soldiers while allowing the country to interfere in our 2020 election: traitorous.
