Letter to the editor: Westmoreland commissioners should resign
Regarding the article “Westmoreland controller questions approved raises in new union contract” (Aug. 23, TribLIVE): It is the mission of the Westmoreland County Board of Commissioners to represent the residents of Westmoreland County with prudence and fairness — to govern reasonably, ensuring that the county delivers quality services while maintaining a cost-efficient budget.
These raises are higher than advertised. Ten percent — that is not a bad raise. In fact, that is a great raise. I bet my Social Security will go up 10%. I enjoy living on a low fixed income. Someday you three commissioners may have the opportunity to live on Social Security.
Your oversight will only cost the citizens $890,000. Who voted on this? I would assume you understand what you are reading? I know I could do a better job. You three must have graduated from Biden University.
You borrowed almost $1 million for these employees’ (and your) retirement on long-term debt. You all have no business intelligence.
Get out of office; resign; go work for President Biden. I will do everything in my power to have someone competent to replace you in the next election. You all should resign.
