Letter to the editor: We won't get fooled again

Tribune-Review

I hear the push is on to eliminate gasoline-powered vehicles and move to all electric because of climate concerns. Guess I’d better hurry to buy my new Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. It gets around 13 mpg, has an 807 horsepower engine and does 202 miles per hour. I’ll smoke the tires for you if you’d like.

Some predict we’ll soon all be eating cultured, lab-grown meat and even insects for most of our protein requirements. That’s repulsive, so I’ll just fire up the grill to cook some Angus beef burgers and maybe top them with some thick-cut grilled bacon. And any annoying insects will disappear into the bug zapper.

I hear there are topics I cannot question and things I can’t say. Funny, for over 200 years we’ve had a sacred Constitution with a First Amendment that protects all free speech. That protection supersedes anyone’s right not to be offended, and cancel culture and censorship will never suppress the truth. I refuse to participate in the delusions of others.

People want to repeal the Second Amendment and take our guns away. There is not much that can stop violent predators or a tyrannical government other than a gun. No one said it better than the late, great Charlton Heston, “… from my cold, dead hands.”

God-fearing, law-abiding, hard-working, patriotic Americans, “we the people” are awakening like a sleeping giant. We will rise up to defeat the enemies of America the beautiful and her Constitution. Fear-mongering and lies will no longer deceive us because, like the classic Who song, we “Won’t Get Fooled Again.”
