Letter to the editor: We need to save our water

Tribune-Review

As the world crumbles under our feet with unprecedented droughts — which by the way means not only will there be no water to drink, but also no water for crops and livestock, raising the price of groceries even more — it is time we start to look at the dire consequences of this huge and scary situation of running out of water.

We need to start conserving this very valuable resource. I think it’s time we stop worrying about who is, who thinks they are and who wants to be president and focus on the bigger picture, including rising sea levels, rising temperatures and wildfires that get harder and harder to put out year after year.

Really, where are our priorities? Who cares who the president is or will be if there is no planet to even need a president? In this time of political unrest, can we get our priorities straight and worry about what truly matters — having water, produce, livestock, heck, even a planet for our future generations?

I don’t know about you, but I would love to see my son and possibly grandchildren grow up on a decent planet and not on some place like a “Mad Max” movie. The water crisis is not just in other countries; it is real and it is scary. Check out some documentaries on National Geographic and Netflix — it will be the scariest thing you have ever watched.
