Letter to the editor: We need lifesaving gun laws
How in the world can there be two reasonable sides on this issue? How can the inability of an American citizen to purchase an automatic weapon be worth the life of one child? How can anyone find it acceptable to do nothing to stop this carnage by saying they are protecting our Second Amendment rights?
Every other advanced country on the planet that has suffered mass shootings with automatic weapons has banned them, instituted background checks and other deterrents. Responsible legislators have no problem identifying the correct response.
So, you love the power trip with an AR-15? Go to a gun range, rent one, enjoy the power of the weapon in a safe condition, have fun — return it and go home. If I were able to make decisions on automatic weapon ownership age limits, it would be 95 (and only with written permission from the mother!).
Come on, legislators; give us some lifesaving laws.
