Letter to the editor: We need a real Pennsylvanian in Toomey's seat

Tribune-Review

While we Pennsylvanians are seeing a number of people vying for Pat Toomey’s U.S. Senate seat, we should be wary of those candidates who claim to live in our state. Sure, they may be wealthy enough to have residences in several states, including ours, but that doesn’t entitle them to say they are true Pennsylvanians.

We do not need transitory people to represent us. Recall that U.S. Rep. Doug Walgren lost his seat to Rick Santorum when we found out he lived in the Washington, D.C., area. We voted him out. When Santorum became a senator, we discovered that he and his family were living in Virginia. We voted him out, too.

Let’s vote for a true Pennsylvanian to represent us for the U.S. Senate, someone who grew up, worked, and resides and will continue to reside in our state. We need someone who knows and understands what living in Pennsylvania really means.

Will the leadership of either party stoop so low to bring in an outsider rather than recruit a native Pennsylvanian to represent us for the next six years? As for Dr. Oz, are you serious?
