Letter to the editor: We must love one another, regardless of color

Tribune-Review

We observe Memorial Day in remembrance of the lives laid down to secure our freedom. Religion and speech are the first two freedoms enshrined in our Bill of Rights. It is proper to emphasize then, that they are not from the hand of government but from the God who makes all men equal.

Jesus told us to, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Martin Luther King Jr. lived that appeal to love. His concern wasn’t social justice; it was that we love one another without notice of color.

The deceptions of the 1619 Project, critical race theory and Black Lives Matter dis-spirit, divide and destroy. Far from love, they breed and promote disorder and hate. The only systemic slavery today is the victimhood which race hustlers push. They promote self-pity to control through emotion.

Love doesn’t license self- destruction. The war on poverty from the ’60s has decimated the Black community and destroyed the Black family. It is worse now than then.

God disciplines the children in whom he delights. Self-discipline frees and produces grown-ups. The Earth will never be perfect because it isn’t home.
