Letter to the editor: We all lost in this election

Tribune-Review

Now that Election Day/Month has come and gone (or has it?), permit this lifelong independent (I’m 63) to share some thoughts on the election and the political parties.

First and foremost, Gen Zers need to educate themselves before they support the unlawful school loan bailout. Since you always have your nose in your cellphone, google President Washington’s farewell address of 1796 and President Lincoln’s “House divided” speech in 1858. Time spent doing so is much better than tearing down their statues. President Biden’s clever ruse to distract from the issues won’t net you one penny, your “what’s in it for me” attitude be damned.

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy are dinosaurs, to name a few who need to go. Voter ID must happen, or we should have total gridlock until it does. Flooding of mail-in ballots is ripe for fraud and must stop.

Will Sen.-elect John Fetterman wear a tie over his hoodie in the Senate chamber? I suggest not seating him until an independent doctor confirms he is fit to serve. It’s not about him, it’s about us.

Republicans, stop being your own worst enemy clinging to establishment beliefs. Going forward, find your backbone for what you believe. Your party is divided and needs to accept it represents middle-class working people. Running millionaire/billionaire candidates who made their money in China makes them easy targets for the radical left distracting from the issues. We all lost again.
