Letter to the editor: Waiting for Trump's 'powerful strategy'

Tribune-Review

On July 21, President Trump led, without any other members of the coronavirus task force present, what was billed as a coronavirus task force press briefing. This was his first attended coronavirus task force press briefing since April 23, when he stated, “And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?”

All you need to know about the virus, the “highlights” of the July 21 coronavirus task force press briefing and Trump’s handling of the coronavirus is the following: With over 153,000 deaths attributed to the coronavirus, the U.S. leads the world in deaths (almost doubling that of Brazil, the country with the second most deaths at more than 90,000).

In the early moments of the briefing, Trump stated, “We are in the process of developing a strategy that’s going to be very, very powerful.” Later during the briefing, a reporter asked, “Why are your doctors not with you here today? Where is Dr. Fauci? Dr. Birx?” As Trump pointed over his shoulder to the doorway to the press briefing room, he responded, “Well, Dr. Birx is right outside.”
