Letter to the editor: Voting, inflation and Democrats
Leo Nagorski’s letter “Republicans have nothing to offer” (Nov. 26, TribLIVE) in response to my letter “Biden will take blame for destruction” (Nov. 10, TribLIVE) is rife with left-wing talking points and short on facts.
Nagorski claims Republicans brought discriminatory voting laws, anti-LGBTQ laws and laws preventing many people of color from voting, also preventing senior citizens from voting by attempting to restrict mail-in voting. I’m not aware of any of these laws on the books. Give us specifics, Leo. With regard to unlimited mail-in voting, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask people to show up on Election Day and identify themselves with photo identification to vote unless they have a legitimate reason for voting by absentee ballot. This worked very effectively pre-pandemic and eliminated many potential voting irregularities. I also think it’s racist to assume people of color aren’t sophisticated enough to possess and produce photo identification to vote.
Inflation is occurring worldwide but was exacerbated in the U.S. by President Biden and the Democrats overstimulating the economy with unnecessary spending, and by restricting our energy production. The so-called Inflation Reduction Act does nothing to address inflation; it’s a green energy bill.
As for destroying the criminal justice system, check the crime statistics of all major cities run by Democrats.
By the way, Leo, I’m a registered independent, not a Republican as you imply. I am fairly certain that you are a hard-core leftist ideologue based on your views and that you probably paid too much for your last vehicle.
