Letter to the editor: Voters' IQs

Tribune-Review

Letter-writer Carl Colpo (“Democrats’ ads disrespectful during crisis,” April 2, TribLIVE) stated that when people tell him they vote Democrat, he writes them off as having a low IQ. I am a lifelong Democrat. A staunch Democrat I am not. I consider myself an independent Democrat with both liberal and conservative views. I belive it takes both views to make a smart voter or politician.

That being said, if all Democratic voters have low IQs, then all Republicans must have the IQs of a squirrel. They must all have the arrogance, ego and narcissism of the leader they endorse. They must believe in everything he says and does, such as calling people scum, attacking anyone who disagrees with him, mocking disabled people. They must bow to their knees at his every whim.

I agree wholeheartedly with letter-writer George West (“Seeing Trump for what he truly is,” April 4, TribLIVE), who stated that it’s amazing that people can’t see Trump for what he truly is — in my opinion, the most phony and disgusting president we have ever seen.

Regardless of the outcome of the 2016 election, there were nearly 3 million more American people who voted against Trump than for him. The final totals were: Clinton, 65,844,954, and Trump, 62,979,879. So I guess in Colpo’s mind, nearly 66 million American voters have low IQs.

May all Americans, and the entire world, get through this horrible pandemic regardless of their IQ, or who they vote for.
