Letter to the editor: Voter suppression to resume

Tribune-Review

It looks like the House of the Pennsylvania General Assembly is set to reconvene on Sept. 27.

That’s when Round 2 of the stealth voter suppression begins again. Need an example? How about House Bill 1614? This little piece of legislation (only three pages) was introduced by Republicans Waren, Grove, Bernstine, Rothman, Smith, Davanzo, Keefer, Hamm, Kauffman, Millard, Dowling and Rome. It would reduce the number of absentee ballots from a percentage slightly above the largest turnout in a primary and general election to a percentage no more than 50% of primary and 100% of a general election. So if you get an absentee ballot and spill grape jelly on it, you still have to mail it in, sticky stains and all.
