Letter to the editor: Voter fraud 'what-ifs'
Regarding “Pa. GOP proposes major election overhaul, including stricter voter ID and in-person early voting” (June 10, TribLIVE): What if someone goes to rest homes and other elderly people to harvest ballots? What is the advantage for a ballot harvester? Does he just get the voter to sign the ballot? Does the ballot harvester do the actual voting here? How long have they been doing this?
What if there is a way to prevent voter fraud and we do nothing? Actual voter photo ID when voting in person? Mail-in ballots with voter signature verification checked at the drop-off box? What if you show your photo ID when you drop your ballot off at the drop-off box ?
What if someone gets your mail-in ballot and forges your signature and does your voting? What if this is already happening and we have politicians who don’t want to do anything about it because they do not want to change it? If you’re doing it and tell someone that you’re doing it, do you think your life would be in danger from somebody?
We all vote twice a year, at the same time every year, and you can’t plan for it like a birthday party, ball game and other things? If not, it sounds like you shouldn’t vote because you can’t plan for it.
We all want fair elections, but we need to secure what we’re doing now.
