Letter to the editor: Vote McKinley, Moore in Arnold
The decisions of a municipal official, school board director or local magistrate will certainly impact your life more immediately, and more directly, than those of a president, governor or U.S. senator. Local elected officials make decisions that affect your most valuable assets — your family, your home, your school, your neighborhood, your livelihood. The most important vote any citizen can cast is in their local election. That’s why I strongly endorse primary candidates Phil McKinley and Aaron Moore for Arnold City Council.
Three years of service on council have taught me that the trade is not a complicated one: a council member is elected to protect the public and to preserve their property. But it does require hard work and dedication. McKinley and Moore are two of the hardest working and most dedicated men I have ever met.
McKinley has served on council for almost 10 years, as director of public works and of parks and buildings. Moore serves on the Arnold Redevelopment Commission and the Westmoreland County Youth Commission. Both of them have strong ties to our city. Both are political independents whose only ideology is a pragmatic concern for those they serve. Voters couldn’t ask for two more dedicated public servants. Democrats can vote for them on the ballot, and Republicans can write them in.
McKinley deserves another term on council. I am retiring at the end of my term and can think of no better replacement than Moore. I am proud to endorse them. Please vote May 16.
