Letter to the editor: Vote Democrat to solve our real problems
Heading into the midterm election, we face a lot of real problems. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has caused worldwide inflation. Ballooning medical and college costs have been squeezing families for years. A changing climate is driving stronger storms and worse floods.
Democrats have been working hard — for example, the Inflation Reduction Act, passed this summer without any Republican support in the House or Senate, will reduce prescription drug expenses for seniors and invest in clean energy, all while reducing the federal deficit and ensuring that billion-dollar corporations pay their fair share.
Meanwhile, Republicans at all levels of government are busy inventing new problems: stripping women of their right to make their own medical decisions, refusing to enshrine our rights to contraception and marriage choice in federal law, micromanaging schoolteachers and even threatening to default on our country’s bills next year unless they get to cut Social Security in a time of economic struggle.
On Nov. 8, vote for Democrats up and down the ballot to make progress on the problems that really face Pennsylvanians.
