Letter to the editor: Vaccination blame game

Tribune-Review
| Sunday, February 14, 2021 6:00 a.m.

I read with dismay the Tribune-Review’s reporting on the Feb. 3 hearing in Harrisburg regarding the abysmal rollout of covid-19 vaccinations to Pennsylvania citizens (“Pa.’s lagging vaccine rollout takes center stage in Harrisburg,” Feb. 4, TribLIVE). The prevalent rhetoric was to make excuses and blame others. It makes me think of the old carnival shell game. Someone appears to be hiding the pea that is the vaccine.

I have extracted the following data from CDC’s Covid Data Tracker site. As of the first day of February, 1,976,925 doses had been distributed to Pennsylvania and only 1,134,185 had been administered, leaving 842,740 with an unknown status. The next two days followed a similar trend: Feb. 2, 1,987,200 distributed vs. 1,155,945 administered, and Feb. 3, 2,143,150 distributed and 1,158,091 administered, leaving 831,255 and 985,059 with an unknown status.

I would love to have someone investigate who is holding those nearly 1 million doses and why they are not being administered in a timely fashion.

It is time to turn the process over to people and organizations that can perform. Stop complaining and step up.
