Letter to the editor: Unflattering Pittsburgh

Tribune-Review

In his op-ed “An unflattering portrait of Pittsburgh” (Aug. 17, TribLive), Colin McNickle has the courage to report what needs to be disclosed about the city: it is blunt, fault-finding and insulting,” all synonyms of “unflattering.”

He states: “… the think tank researchers say Pittsburgh’s very high spending, excessive taxation and embrace of unions have all contributed to an overbearing public sector, which has impeded growth and gives the city a reputation of being unfriendly to business.”

The city is a model for its school district, as well as the many government initiatives that Pittsburgh and other progressive, Democrat-run cities incessantly fund.

“A liberal (city mayor) is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money.” — G. Gordon Liddy

Cities like Pittsburgh love spending other people’s money.
