Extremists from the right attacked our Capitol. Extremists from the left burned our cities and attacked our police. Over 60 million voters believe our election was fraudulent, and only 10% trust Congress.
The majority of voters do not trust mainstream or social media. Just where is our land of the free and home of the brave headed?
According to Webster’s dictionary, totalitarianism advocates a political regime in which one party subordinates individuals to the state and controls all aspects of life. Communist China is one example: Cameras are everywhere, internet is monitored, children inform on their parents, and the government controls industry, jobs and health care.
Meanwhile in our free democracy, one political party is aggressively trying to take control of all three branches of government — by one-party impeachment efforts, corrupting voting laws, promising to eliminate the Electoral College, making voting states of Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, and increasing the number of Supreme Court justices.
This one party would then control the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government and would become more powerful, socialistic and totalitarian.
Personal freedoms would evaporate, taxes would rise, and private industry and the media would lose independence.
You need only visit the Little Havana section of Miami to see how American free enterprise can create a dynamic, robust economy, compared to Cuba’s repressive Old Havana that these energetic immigrants escaped from.
To keep our successful 245-year experiment in freedom and opportunity alive, we need to be alert for potential tyranny and ineffectiveness when one party has all the power.
