Letter to the editor: Trump voters have plenty of education

Tribune-Review

Letter-writer Tom Tarosky seems to make the assumption that anyone who voted for Donald Trump is a lesser person than he (“Maybe Trump supporters don’t know the facts,” Jan. 24, TribLIVE). He says that studies “reveal that a large segment of President Trump’s supporters have a high school education at best.” I personally know a lot of people who have a college education, some with doctorates, who voted for Trump.

Tarosky is entitled to his opinion, but not to his facts. According to Forbes: “The Supreme Court denied motions to expedite the post-election cases. … By denying motions to expedite the cases, the court will instead consider them on a slower timeline after Inauguration Day.”

To minimize the intelligence of people you don’t know, Mr. Tarosky, reveals your ignorance. Do you think the person who installed your tires or your water heater is not fit to vote because they may have graduated from a tech school or learned on the job? What about the iron worker who built the building that you work in, shop in or worship in? How about the bricklayer who built your house? Do they not have the right to vote their conscience? Do you feel less safe when you drive your car or enter a building not knowing if those workers were college educated?

A wise man once said: “When you tear out a man’s tongue you are not proving him a liar. You’re only tell the world that you fear what he might say.”
