Letter to the editor: Trump only loves Trump

Who would have thought it would have come to this? The United States has a president who is a tax-evading, draft-dodging, narcissistic, habitual liar. The future of our country is at risk.

I believe the blood of many of those who died from covid-19 is on President Trump’s hands. Early on, instead of trying to curb the virus, he downplayed it — because it threatened his reelection? A true leader would have been more concerned about the health of the American people.

Trump said “it will just go away with warmer weather.” He was told the virus was being spread by flights coming from Europe, yet he failed to stop those flights. Trump did restrict flights from China after CDC director Dr. Robert Redfield told him to. He prolonged the pandemic by prematurely encouraging opening businesses. Over 226,000 people dead, and almost 9 million cases in the U.S.

Trump said the late John McCain was not a hero — shocking, coming from someone who received draft deferments for bone spurs on his heel. Really? Joe DiMaggio served during World War II with bone spurs.

Successful businessman? Trump paid no income taxes in 10 of the last 15 years. Twice he paid $750, much less than most American workers. He paid more taxes to Panama, the Philippines and India than he paid in the United States. He owes $421 million in loans and debts. He declared bankruptcy five times.

Does this man love America? I doubt it. Donald Trump only loves Donald Trump. Lock him up!
