Letter to the editor: Trump is no messiah

Tribune-Review

D.A. Scandrol’s letter “Trump as messiah” (Sept. 20, TribLIVE) disturbed me greatly. How can any human being with an IQ greater than 25 compare Donald Trump to Jesus Christ? Scandrol tries to make a compelling case, but maybe he should be a writer of fiction. Then it wouldn’t matter if his statements were true or not.

Jesus probably never belittled a person with a physical or mental handicap, denigrated the parents of a man in uniform serving his country, or enslaved the poor and downtrodden and separated children from their mothers.

Jesus’ accomplishments have been studied by scholars for hundreds of years and are chronicled in the Bible and throughout history. Trump, on the other hand, has alienated many of our allies by speaking highly of Russia and North Korea and their presidents. These are our adversaries; isn’t this against our Constitution? He reaps the benefit of having government and military officials stay at his resorts while on government business. Again, against our Constitution?

Trump states that he has done more than any other president. What about Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Reagan, etc.?

His lies and underhandedness are what is upsetting the power elite.

Cleaning up the political swamp? I have one question: How many of Trump’s staff or cabinet members have been arrested, had accusations brought against them or misappropriated funds at the taxpayers’ expense?

Scandrol concludes by saying, “Trump may well be Jesus.” Mr. Scandrol, I suggest you have a long conversation with your priest or minister. You need to be set straight on so many issues.
