Letter to the editor: Trump has done enough damage
In response to letters by Archie Atkinson (“Trump to blame for Biden? What a joke.,” Dec. 1, TribLIVE) and Jack Juris (“Standing by Biden is a bad choice,” Dec. 3, TribLIVE) regarding my letter “Another Trump presidency not the answer” (Nov. 18, TribLIVE), I’d like to explain my statement that it is Donald Trump’s fault that Joe Biden is president.
It is not often that an incumbent president loses an election. Trump lost because he turned the majority of Americans against him with his arrogance and divisive ways. He created his own image, and that image lost him the election.
Atkinson criticizes the Democrats for Biden being the best they had to offer. Trump was the best (or worst) the Republicans had to offer. And he lost.
Yes, Atkinson is correct that this country has never been in worse shape, but I see it coming from four years of Trump’s divisive presidency and the pandemic.
Juris said standing by Biden is a poor choice. When the other choice is Trump, there is no other choice. I never said and do not agree that a Trump presidency was needed. Look at what it’s done. Americans hate each other now, and the country is near civil war again.
Atkinson suggests that I should pray that Biden doesn’t “lose it” and enable Kamala Harris to become president. My prayer is that regardless of where you stand politically, you wise up and see that Trump and his Republican puppets are surely not the answer. Trump has done enough damage to our country and its humanity.
