Letter to the editor: Trump fills, not drains, swamp
“I’m getting rave reviews.” Those were the words of President Trump after he granted clemency to Roger Stone. Yes, Trump drained the swamp, all right. And filled it with his own creatures, turning it into what I see as a sea of hypocrisy.
In my opinion, the Republican Party of Trump is evil. The only true and honorable Republican is Sen. Mitt Romney. I think the likes of Sens. Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham, along with Trump’s many misdeeds, have shamed the once proud party to the point that all past presidents of both parties are probably rolling over in their graves. The four living presidents seem to be disgusted.
Everything seems to be a hoax or fake to Trump, when in sad reality, I say the hoax has been his own fake presidency. Is he a wartime or law-and-order president, or even a leader? Far from it, I say. He’s the ultimate divider. He says he’s a patriot, but, in my opinion, he embarrassed and shamed our entire country on the world stage in Helsinki in 2018, when he believed his Russian comrade Vladimir Putin rather than U.S intelligence showing Russian interference in the 2016 election. It’s a shame that the bone spurs that kept him out of Vietnam couldn’t have prevented him from being president.
Yes, I am voting for Joe Biden. Trump would never be worthy of my vote, even if he had run as a Democrat. It’s about honor, dignity and integrity, none of which I see in Trump. He is the poorest excuse for a president in this once proud nation’s history.
