Letter to the editor: Thoughts on abortion, voting

Tribune-Review

Some comments regarding the upcoming election:

A recent poll of the “over 50” population taken by AARP indicates that the third highest concern is abortion. This is ahead of immigration/border security, Social Security, Medicare, government spending, taxes and voting rights!

Why is someone over 50 so concerned about abortion to place a “social” issue above the other issues that affect our country? And now our president is talking about making a law to legalize abortion if he gets a Democratic Congress. This is more important than all the other issues like the economy, immigration, inflation, etc.?

There have been a lot of letters recently regarding the drop box at the Westmoreland County Courthouse. Absentee ballots have been around for a very long time and have always been mail-in. If a voter can make it to a drop box, then they can make it to the polls to cast their vote.

It is time we bring our election laws up to date, requiring voter ID, in-person voting and absentee ballot votes for a valid reason only.
