Letter to the editor: Think about political diversity when voting
Diversity has proven to be a good thing. When voting in November, please consider the importance of diversity.
I’m referring to political diversity. Currently, Democrats control the House of Representatives because of their majority; the Senate, because of the vice president’s tie-breaking vote; and the White House. Thus, we have a one-party system with Democrats holding all the power.
We need to also include the views, ideas and policies of the Republican Party. With a Democrat in the White House, this would be an ideal time to elect Republicans into Congress in an effort to balance out the political power. With a Democrat in the White House and a Republican-led Congress, both parties would then have their power represented, and our nation would then head into a more favorable direction.
It starts with avoiding a system where one party has all the power.
