To John Newhouse, who wrote the letter “Politicians, media teaching how to hate” (March 17, TribLIVE): I honestly sympathize with your fate. I’m an 80-year-old mother and grandmother, and have been in your predicament at times myself.
The only way, and the best way, to get out of your dilemma of not trusting journalists or politicians is to study them out. As with good food and bad food, good automobiles and bad automobiles, good doctors and bad doctors — the list goes on — one must study out meticulously, and sort out the good from the bad.
Good journalists usually have some type of college degree, have studied journalism and are just plain good human beings. The same for our politicians as well.
Most of us in this country are good, upright citizens — maybe not intelligent enough to run for president , but nevertheless good, humane people, and we deserve the same from our leaders of any endeavor.
For example, compare Donald Trump to Joe Biden. I chose Biden for president. He’s well-versed in the technicalities of politics, as well as being a good, clean, honest man. And we deserve good, honest people.
It’s as simple as that, Mr. Newhouse.
