Letter to the editor: The truth about Trump
Honestly, why are so many Trump idol worshippers so snide, aggrieved and misinformed? I don’t get it.
I voted for Joseph R. Biden principally because Donald Trump made such a dishonest hash of American diplomacy. It was bad enough when Trump fawned over Vladimir Putin even after American intelligence agencies informed him the Russian federation had interfered significantly in our 2016 election.
When Trump called the president of Ukraine and almost the first words out of his mouth were, “They say CrowdStrike,” everyone should have been appalled that our chief executive actually believed such a long-debunked and ridiculous conspiracy theory.
Trump betrayed our loyal Kurdish allies so that the Turks (and Russians, of course) occupied a wide swath of historically Kurdish territory. All of this territory belonged to Syria. So did the oil wells Trump decided to “protect,” even though it was a clear violation of international law. Trump cozied up to murderous dictators while insulting and deriding our long-term allies.
It is evident that Trump sabotaged the war on covid-19. Initially he called reaction to it a hoax, then said it would “disappear.” Near the end of his campaign, he was constantly claiming that “we’re turning the corner.” These were lies. Trump ridiculed mask- wearing and staged super-spreader events that made scores of people sick, even costing former presidential candidate Herman Cain his life.
In my opinion, Trump is a lifelong dishonest con man.
