Letter to the editor: Thanks to Voice of Westmoreland
I want to thank Voice of Westmoreland for working diligently to raise awareness about the need to improve the capacity of our county’s mental health services and the request to spend some of the public covid relief funds for this purpose.
Mental health professionals are often the only people that victims of crime or people in crisis have to turn to when society fails them. They are in the “trenches” every day, making people whole again and saving lives.
Society has a habit of taking advantage of the vulnerable and then blaming them for their circumstances, but that is often not the case.
Good mental health services need to be available to all our citizens. Healthy people make for healthy families and communities. As anyone can see, our country needs to do much more to improve the mental health of this nation. Please support Voice of Westmoreland.
