Letter to the editor: Thanks to caring community for letting teen be all he can be

Tribune-Review

As the Class of 2023 celebrates graduation, the Gratzmiller family would like to extend their appreciation to the residents of the Alle-Kiski community.

To everyone who has allowed Andrew to be Andrew, we say thank you.

When Andrew was diagnosed with autism, we were not sure what life would look like for him. Andrew has always been a gift to our family, and of course we believe he is exceptional and wonderful, but our communities have shown such kindness and support and have both figuratively and literally lifted him up.

Throughout his life, he has had family, friends, coaches, teammates, teachers, community members and organizations (Flyers, Bucs football, track, chorus, bowling, bocci, Band Together, Autism Association) who have welcomed him and encouraged him to be the best that he can be.

To all who have accepted, encouraged, supported and loved him, and allowed him to accomplish more than we dared to dream … a heartfelt thank-you.

It is our joy to witness the love in our community in their caring and encouragement for Andrew. It is a wonderful example of what is right with our world. God bless you for your kindness.
