Letter to the editor: Thankful for Dermody
I would like to thank Frank Dermody for everything he did for Harrison Township and the communities he represented in the Allegheny Valley. I don’t think residents of the area realize what a loss it is to lose a representative who was the minority leader in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
During my 38-year tenure as a township commissioner, I was president of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Commissioners and chairman of the Allegheny County League of Municipalities, and came in contact with many state legislators and county officials while working on legislation that would affect our townships. Dermody was always in the corner of local government.
Harrison Township was plagued by basement sewer flooding problems during heavy storms. We were able to replace sewers and fix many lines with Dermody’s help in obtaining state grants .
The leadership position Dermody held has gone to a state representative from Philadelphia. It’s a huge loss for our valley. When I needed help from the state or county, Dermody always helped.
