Letter to the editor: Tale of 2 Americas
Reading recent letters, you’d think there are two Americas. One is certain righteousness, President Trump’s logic and reason, spouting claims that “He has arrived,” supporting a chosen son who’d make Geppetto’s head explode. The other squandered all political capital promoting morally offensive “progressive” social reforms while abiding archaic bureaucratic mores now openly violated by their counterpart.
The GOP derailed the House investigation, advising constituents to remain silent and withhold evidence. The president ordered his staff to defy subpoenas. The Senate announced its verdict before receiving impeachment articles. The Senate refused to hear witnesses, arguing the House previously declined.
We must include the real criminals, Bill and Hillary Clinton. The Clintons have been subjected to dozens of investigations beginning in the 1990s. Bill agreed to provide testimony to Ken Starr during his own impeachment in 1998. Testimony was given by 66 witnesses, including three during the Senate trial. Can you believe 25 years of investigations have only produced a single chargeable offense, Bill’s impeachment for lying about a lie?
Trump argued impeachment acquittal as grounds to reduce sentences, overturn convictions and drop charges related to the Russian and Ukraine investigations that snared six of his associates. Is he president or next Teflon Don?
