Letter to the editor: Take off the party blinders
Another primary election season is well upon us with all the signs, ads and salesmanship from the candidate hopefuls vying for our vote in a few weeks, but there is a far more important issue at hand.
Unlike many other states, Pennsylvania still tightly clings to a closed primary system which cheats registered Independent voters of the opportunity to make their votes count.
Perhaps both majority parties fear what may happen in the voting booth when they should be hopeful of what could happen in the voting booth.
It’s time to remove the party blinders, open the primary election and let everyone’s vote count.
Pennsylvania will be much better for it.
