Letter to the editor: Supporting Dickinson for Congress

Tribune-Review

I have always bled black and gold, but does our representative? Since joining Team Jerry, I have seen a lack of representation and care in our communities. I support Jerry Dickinson and his campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives because of what I have seen.

Living in New Kensington, I’ve seen people struggle between choosing health care or food, I’ve seen the effects of violence and hate in our communities, and I’ve seen what living in the forgotten and mistreated populations can do to a person.

Dickinson is the only candidate for District 18 who supports real change; he wants to make significant changes for the people in and outside of Pittsburgh. He supports the Green New Deal, which is more than it seems. Pollution impacts those who don’t have proper health care the most. Pittsburgh has terrible air quality that has made preexisting conditions worse and also has caused higher than average rates of cancer and asthma. When people can’t afford the costs of medical treatment, they deteriorate. Our communities lack the representation that we deserve.

Dickinson supports the workers of Pittsburgh, prioritizes affordable housing and is fighting for livable wages. The forgotten suburbs of Pittsburgh have no faith in politicians because of their lack of representation. I want the people of Pittsburgh to feel secure with who is representing them and to know that they are not forgotten in one of “America’s most livable cities.” I support Dickinson because he cares about Pittsburgh and America.
