Letter to the editor: Some things upon which we can agree

Tribune-Review

As the political division in our country rapidly comes to an end (wink), I thought it might be time to point out several things upon which we can almost all agree.

1) Fellow drivers, one blink of a turn signal at 70 mph doesn’t authorize you to cut 10 feet in front of me.

2) Store managers, shouldn’t you put your fastest cashier at the speedy checkout?

3) Dear every company we call: We know you have not changed your menu options for years, so you don’t need to tell us to “listen carefully.” Oh, and stop recording me for quality assurance, it’s not working!

4) Advertisers, stop with the unintelligible verbal or flashed-on-the-screen disclaimers.

5) Dear local gas station owners: We’re pretty sure you’re colluding on prices. Perhaps the AG is reading this?

6) Dear TV and movie producers: Men are not as weak and stupid as you portray them.

7) Dear news media: We know you are “in the tank” for one side or the other, so you can stop pretending you’re not. You’ll always be “fake news” to half the population. Until your trust is re-earned, nothing will improve.

8) Dear everyone: Please identify opinions as such, and fact-check your “facts” before making them as such.

And lastly, for continued healing, please feel free to grow this list instead of dwelling on the opposite.

Is this is a good start for peace in our time?
