Letter to the editor: Schools need armed resource officers
The government is a joke and an embarrassment. They are not “for the people.” The No. 1 reason our children and others are being killed due to such heinous violence is because politics are killing our children.
They think nothing of sending billions to Ukraine, but do not fund every school in America so they can supply armed school resource officers. President Biden just started his “Investing in America” tour, deflecting from what is really happening in our country. Crime is high, and our most vulnerable citizens, our children, are at risk every day in our schools.
Americans have the right to bear arms, and that right cannot and will not be taken away. The only way to stop school shootings is by “investing in our children” by funding armed resource officers in schools. Right now, there is no deterrent to discourage anyone from entering a school and killing people.
“Investing in mental health” should also be top priority. These tragedies have a solution that could reduce and hopefully end these heinous crimes, but the Biden administration seems to have zero interest other than to push their agenda to disarm our country so we are all sitting ducks.
Parents, go to your school board meetings, demand that schools have armed resource officers, and do not take no for an answer. School board members should be put on notice: Supply our schools with armed resource officers or be removed from office and replaced with people who actually give a damn about our children’s safety.
