Letter to the editor: Schools must go online
I am completely at a loss — am I the lone person to believe all school districts should go online ASAP? The excuse that because we can’t educate every student, we can’t educate any, is completely ridiculous to me.
We are in a state of national emergency. In this situation, everyone should do the best they can for as many as they can. So, in my opinion, for school districts, that means going to online learning for the rest of the year immediately.
Be realistic: Kids are not returning this year, as they shouldn’t. Every hour that goes by that we are not working toward this goal is an hour lost. Kids need to have some normalcy in this crisis. I have seen them out walking the streets together. My guess is boredom.
I beg Gov. Tom Wolf: Please come to your senses and direct the Pennsylvania Department of Education to direct all districts to educate every student they can online to the best of their ability as quickly as they can. No obstacle in our path is too large to overcome if we make this a priority.
