Letter to the editor: Say goodbye to fracking

In the campaigning for the presidential election, it was difficult to determine whether Joe Biden planned to move to stop fracking. He gave conflicting statements concerning his intent. With the canceling of the Keystone Pipeline construction permit, it is reasonably clear what direction his administration is taking on fossil fuels.

Under the guise of environmental concerns, they withdrew the permit to continue construction. Even liberal Canada has said they can construct the pipeline in an environmentally safe manner. The real reason is the Biden administration bureaucrats believe we need to end the use of fossil fuels to meet our energy needs.

It is oil now, but not far down the road, they will come after your gas wells in Western Pennsylvania. They operate on the theory that the ends justify the means. It is OK that we will lose many jobs if the pipeline goes away, as long as we lessen our carbon footprint. Pete Buttigieg told us that other good-paying union jobs would replace those jobs. Maybe they will build solar panels in Pittsburgh, where the sun does not shine much from Thanksgiving to Easter. Two chances of that happening, slim and none.

I will make a prediction. Four years from now, there will be cottage industries springing up in Western Pennsylvania making bumper stickers that say, FRACKING: DON’T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR TRUMP. I would buy stock in those companies.
