Letter to the editor: Republican Party taken to lowest point

Tribune-Review

Letter-writer Ralph Dunsworth seems to think Sen. Ted Cruz’s treatment of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was appropriate, asking, “What about treatment of Brett Kavanaugh?” (April 6, TribLIVE).

Unlike Jackson, Kavanaugh was accused of sexual misconduct. Wouldn’t you want to really look into accusations like that?

I wonder if Dunsworth thought it was fair when Sen. Tom Cotton said that Jackson “might have gone (to Nuremberg) to defend” Nazis.

I wonder if he believes what Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene believes — that top Democrats are pedophiles and sex traffickers.

I wonder if he thinks the 2020 presidential election was full of fraud? If so, why can’t anyone come up with real evidence?

I wonder if he thought it was OK for Cruz to defend the Nazi salute in the Capitol.

Many in Donald Trump’s orbit are being indicted. Trump has more cases against him than I can count. In four years in the White House, more than 30,000 of his lies were documented. At a recent rally, he actually said, “I think I’m the most honest human being, perhaps, that God ever created, perhaps.”

April 7 was a great day: Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court was confirmed. President Biden kept his promise to nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court. I’m sorry if that ruined Dunsworth’s day.

John McCain is probably turning over in his grave to see what happened to his Republican Party — that one man, Donald Trump, took to its lowest — and only a few are not afraid of his wrath if they speak the truth.
