Voters showed up for the midterms and turned the projected “red wave” into a pink puddle. Could it be a few ironies and hypocrisies finally got the attention of voters?
Politicians, who would make abortion illegal, even in cases of rape and incest, would end the “free stuff” many families with children need to survive. The same politicians who are “pro-life” and demand “smaller government” support the government killing criminals and think more guns somehow equates to less gun-related deaths.
Politicians who demand “count every vote” refuse to consider the popular vote, which would have put Democrats in the White House for the past 22 years. Of course the only elections, voting machines, poll workers or states being disputed are the ones associated with Democratic victories.
Politicians who supposedly support the police and “law and order” have little concern for the Jan. 6 violence, injury and at least one “line of duty death” of an officer.
With the exception of George H.W. Bush, every Republican president since Ronald Reagan has given enormous tax breaks to billionaires and large corporations. But Republicans are outraged by President Biden’s plan to forgive student loans. Doesn’t money saved by college students “trickle down”?
There was no mention of Dr. Mehmet Oz being the first Muslim to receive a U.S. Senate nomination (“not that there is anything wrong with that”); however, the “Black president,” who is Christian, was criticized and accused endlessly of being a Muslim.
I have to ask “the party of Trump” one question: Are you tired of winning yet?
