Letter to the editor: Remembering Frank Furko, Pudgie Wudgie

Tribune-Review

Frank Furko has passed over the Rainbow Bridge to reunite with his beloved famous cat Pudgie Wudgie (“Plum’s Frank Furko, best remembered as Pudgie Wudgie’s owner, dead at 85,” June 21, TribLIVE). What a beautiful reunion that is.

Being a cat lover myself, I read all of the articles about Furko from the “Pudgie Wudgie beat” from 1989-2001. When Pudgie Wudgie died in 2001, Furko dressed him in a beautiful outfit and laid him out in a casket at his farm in Oakmont. Crowds of people came by for days to pay their respects.

Though I never knew Furko, I know Pudgie Wudgie was a very important part of his life and he derived much happiness from his special cat. May they rest in peace together.
