Here are some lessons I’ve learned in today’s troubled world:
Jobs and free market opportunities, not big government programs and subsidies, are the answers to poverty.
CNN and MSNBC provide mostly partial, biased, misleading news.
Excessive government spending and the resulting higher taxes often lead to higher prices, uncontrolled inflation, job losses, angry citizens, protesters and a possible collapse of the economy.
When one political party tries to pack the Supreme Court, make D.C. a state and loosen voting and immigration laws, in order to control all three branches of government, we are in danger of a Soviet-style totalitarian regime.
Socialism often leads to communism, which replaces personal freedoms and ownership with state controls.
Every citizen should get the same legal opportunities, but passing laws to guarantee the same outcomes is not possible.
Looting and burning others’ businesses and government buildings is criminal; opening borders accelerates drug and child trafficking; and defunding law enforcers makes things worse.
Some lawn signs in my township say “Don’t blame me, I voted for Trump.”
