Letter to the editor: Real ID a money-making scam

Well, folks, I just returned from trying to participate in another government scam, Real ID. After waiting in line for almost two hours, I finally get up to the desk and guess what? They would not accept my original birth certificate because it is not state-issued. They gave me a form, told me to fill it out and send more money to the state, and in about a month or so, they will send me a copy of something I already have.

Now mind you, I had in my hand my 1) driver’s license, 2) Social Security card, 3) gun permit, 4) voter registration, 5) owner’s card, 6) insurance card, and 7) original birth certificate — apparently none of which says who I am.

This is complete insanity. This might be an issue if you actually had to show this card to vote, but you don’t. Why not?

These same people know exactly who you are when they send tax forms, license renewals, junk mail, etc. Well, I know who I am and where I live, so they can stick the Real ID. It’s money-making government nonsense just like the vehicle emissions laws.

Remember when you vote, people: It’s all about the money.
