Letter to the editor: Read between lines for our final chapter

Tribune-Review

Once upon a time in Promisetown, Pa., there was an ordinary man who was duly elected the town’s fire chief by just one vote. A number of firemen who opposed and disliked him decided to try every possible thing they could imagine, or create, to replace him, even though he was great at putting out fires and saving lives.

The firemen were driven by envy, hate and misinformation, and spent three years digging into his and his family’s past. They analyzed his phone and text messages for details they could twist and use against him, and repeated lies to get the townspeople’s support. The firemen were so busy they had no time to fight fires, so the people of Promisetown suffered greatly.

The townspeople were kept from the truth by Promisetown’s only newspaper, which was owned by one of the firemen.

The final chapter of this sad tale has yet to be written. That, my friend, is really up to you and me, and how well we can read between the lines.
